Item Specifications and Additional Information: Carbon Composite Resistors 1 Watt carbon comp resistors which are also known as carbon composite resistors differ from film resistors because of how they're made. They consist of a small tube with the carbon composite material inside. This construction produces a small amount of material in the signal. Carbon comp resistors also differ from film resistors in that there is always inductance. Allen Bradley carbon comp resistors are known for their natural organic tone and they are prized by the hi-fi and guitar amp community. Allen Bradley Corp has ceased production and these original AB resistors have become more difficult to find as time goes on. In addition to the wonderful tone produced with these resistors, they are also known for their reliability and sturdy construction as well as their non-inductive and non-magnetic properties. The simple construction is based on a solid cylindrical carbon resistive element along with a single lead at either end of the component. As they are constructed of an organic material (carbon composite), they will over time absorb moisture from the atmosphere. In turn, the resistance may increase and the actual tolerance may not hold.
