Knock Sensor Interface ICs
The purpose of the TPIC8101 is to recognize premature detonation in a combustion engine. It is a dual channel device that sends an electrical signal to the amplifier inputs. The SPI bus provides access to the 2 sensor channels. A programmable band-pass filter processes the signal to count how often an engine knocks or pings. The volumn of engine background noise is usually low and is filtered out by the band-pass filter allowing the TPIC8108 to determine any predetonation noise.
