Wirewound resistors are constructed of metal resistance wire and are often produced to precise values.

Axial lead wire wound resistors offer high performance for low cost. Wirewounds are selected because of their stability, but they are not generally used for high-frequency circuits.

For use in current sensing applications including switching and linear power supplies, instruments and power amplifiers.
